For over 50 years, the Cooper Family Foundation’s purpose has been to provide San Diego’s African American community a celebration of the historical Emancipation Proclamation and the end of U.S. slavery, through a cultural festival known as Juneteenth which provides African American music, dance, and storytelling and the opportunity to find education, history, and solace and pride in African American culture. Our mission is to lend meaning to a community underserved and take part in its healing through exposure to the African music and arts.
