Sixth Street Photography Workshop (SSPW) shares the art and skills of photography with people living with poverty, stigma, isolation and Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD). Many have been homeless and live in transitional housing and hotels. SSPW develops talent and ability in this community to as advanced a level as possible. It offers tuition free classes and workshops in photography at SOMArts Cultural Center and 6th On 7th Gallery.Cameras, darkroom, digital printers, lighting, other equipment, and supplies are provided free of charge. As they advance, participants become involved in collaborative art projects including:

•Artistic enhancement of non-profit residences and low cost hotels
•Portraiture and lighting workshops with free distribution of prints to the community.
•Exhibiting in the community and professional venues.
•Collaborations with arts organizations and community service organizations
•Photographers are supported in personal work, and in our exhibitions and collection.
