The Balkan Cultural Center or as popularly known Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, was established for the purpose of exhibiting film works from Greece, Cyprus and the Balkans as well as increasing awareness about these cultures in Los Angeles. The main focus of the organization is the planning and execution of the annual Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, which has the following goals: offer Greek, Cypriot and other international film artists the opportunity to show their works in Los Angeles and network with each other and American creative professionals; develop international film projects of artistic value, encourage and facilitate international co-productions through the International Project Discovery Forum, which is open to Balkan filmmakers; provide a stimulating cultural environment in which local audiences can get exposed to new creative works of international filmmakers and media artists; nurture cross-cultural communication and collaboration; diversify the cultural fabric of Los Angeles and raise awareness of the modern Greek culture by exposing its various aspects to American audiences; provide one-of-a-kind educational and multimedia cultural experiences – such as retrospective screenings, lectures, panel discussions, power-point presentations, live question & answer sessions, live performances, and more.
