Project Description

The Mission of Tandy Beal & Company-TBC is to develop and produce the creative projects of Tandy Beal to enrich the cultural, educational and artistic life of our communities. Our work in dance, theatre, music, and circus, is presented in concerts, arts education and outreach. TBC supports established artists, develops emerging artists, creates partnerships with organizations to reach larger mutual goals, and unites community through the wonders of art.

In our 50 years of creating and presenting art, TBC has consistently demonstrated our commitment to global inclusion by producing the First:
•Brazilian Carnival regionally (5 years).

•Japan Cultural Fair (in its 31st year, now given to Sister Cities).

•Local World Dance Festival: Concerts and Classes(’80’s). To encourage learning about world dance forms, each new class one studied, lowered the fees, until all one’s classes were free.

•American collaborations with Japanese artist, Ibe Kyoko, for concerts in US and Japan (‘95-‘97). And AeJu Lee, Korean National Treasure in Buddhist Dance for concerts at Palace of Fine Arts and Disney Hall 2013.

•Regional concerts of Bobby McFerrin (Palace of Fine Arts) beginning a 37-year history of collaborations, working with local artists in Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Russia, UAE+.

TBC toured New Mexico, Hawaii, and Nevada, with our children’s concert, hiring Indigenous local actors for main roles. (‘80-‘90s)

Our 20-year “Dance Around the World” Residency presents world artists, teaching and performing, in regional schools. This program inspires children and families by experiencing varied cultures and artforms; and provides work and visibility to local dancers born elsewhere.

“Keep on Truckin’” outdoor concerts for covid-times highlight a range of cultures.

“Scoville Units”, produced in 1/2020, featured Balinese, Brazilian, Asian hiphop and Beal’s contemporary dancers.

International touring has been sponsored by USIA (State Dept) of Eastern Europe, and Japan-US Friendship Commission (Japan).
