The Controller will be the technical leader for the Finance Department, through their strong knowledge about GAAP, accounting practices, reporting, and business systems interconnectivity. They will accomplish this through their advanced technical capacity with financial software and keen expertise as a leader in internal and external audit processes. The Controller will manage the accounting system and the connectivity of all other museum software systems with Finance and will develop a unified tracking, reporting and analysis process. The Controller will recommend sophisticated strategies for integration of systems in this complex non-profit organization. The Controller will manage the tracking and reconciliation of MOCA’s largest asset, its endowment. This role is responsible for supervising the Senior Accountant and interacting across departments to ensure accurate monthly and annual financial closes. This role will support the CFO with compliance, audit, tax and other technical actions and reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Education and Experience:
MBA or CPA preferred, BA/BS in accounting or finance required. Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience, non-profit, fund accounting, fiscal analysis, and business accounting in a non-profit, museum sphere preferred. A posture of maturity and a desire to build and lead a team. Advanced knowledge of Finance and Advancement systems such as Fundriver, Altru/Blackbaud, MS Excel, General Ledger Accounting Software, QuickBooks, Reporting software such as Fathom, Bill.com, and Paycom. Experience with selecting, developing, transition and training on new finance systems.
