The Social Media Coordinator is a savvy producer who views social media as an
opportunity to create conversations about art and contemporary culture. The ideal
candidate has a strong interest in art and demonstrated knowledge of social media.
The Social Media Coordinator reports to the Director of Communications and is in
charge of refining and growing the museum’s existing social media platforms and
content in conjunction with larger, institutional goals. This includes all MOCA proper
channels as well as the MOCA Store. In concert with the Director, Communications and
the Digital Producer, they will create content and develop overarching promotion,
conversion, and engagement strategies. They will measure and analyze agreed upon
metrics to determine key performance indicators.
Essential Functions:
● With guidance, conceive, create, and manage all published content across the
museum’s social media channels
● With the Director, Communications and CCO, research, develop and manage
dynamic, cross-platform campaigns that create a dialogue
● Craft and write all copy for MOCA’s social media platforms
● Monitor and engage to social media conversations
● Monitor the impact of social media campaigns
● Track and share growth analytics
● Conduct research to develop content, alongside the Digital Producer
● Attend and cover public programming, exhibition openings, special events, art
fairs and relevant gatherings, among other happenings across social platforms
● Works with colleagues across the museum to develop compelling storylines for a
wide variety of projects, and oversees execution alongside the Digital Producer
● Video editing and graphic design skills a plus
● Comfortable representing the institution on social media platforms, including
potential “host” or “personality” front facing content
● Flexibility with hours including evenings and weekends pending programming
and exhibition schedules for event coverage and weekends engagement
● Blog and website experience a plus
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art History, Marketing, Communications, or a related
field strongly preferred
● One to two years of related experience
● A demonstrated ability in conceiving and creating social media content
● A strong understanding of social media strategies
● Knowledge of various social media platforms and trends in online communication
● A developed discernment of contemporary art
● Sharp writing skills
● Knowledge of digital marketing a plus
● Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
Salary range: $45,000 – $50,000
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the
following: sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related
functions; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach
both above and below shoulder height. Mobility to move around the office and distribute
reports/correspondence. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth
perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual
dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required. Heavy usage of
phone and computer is required.
