Overview:
The Advancement Associate, Corporate Engagement develops a robust funding pipeline for new and
increased corporate involvement and plays a key role as part of a fast-paced Advancement team.
Managing a portfolio of active and prospective funders, the Advancement Associate, Corporate
Engagement develops decks and proposals for corporate funders, and oversees all aspects of
corporate membership and sponsorships, among other partnerships and projects. Reporting to the
Director, Philanthropic Partnerships, the Advancement Associate, Corporate Engagement works across
all areas of the Advancement department to produce corporate-focused programs and activities, and is
responsible for the planning and execution of all corporate and special events.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills,
strategic thinking abilities, strong organizational skills, and excellent relational skills.
Essential Functions:
· Working with the Director, Philanthropic Partnerships, create and implement strategies to
achieve MOCA’s fundraising goals for corporate revenue channels including corporate
membership, sponsorship, grants, events and other opportunities.
· Oversee a portfolio of active and prospective funders. Cultivate and manage relationships with
existing members and sponsors; research and initiate relationships with prospective funders.
· Research, develop, and submit compelling sponsorship proposals and decks to secure general
operating funds and restricted programmatic funds for exhibitions, education programs, and
special projects. Working jointly with interdepartmental colleagues to identify and package
museum programs and initiatives for funding.
· Manage Corporate Community Partners membership program including renewals, upgrades,
and invoicing, as well as benefit fulfillment including distribution of event invitations, admission
passes, and other benefits. Design outreach plan to grow corporate membership.
· Work with the Planning & Project Coordinator to identify and cultivate prospects via MOCA’s
rental program.
· Plan and produce all corporate events, including cultivation events, membership programs, and
other opportunities for deepening engagement with MOCA. Create and manage invitation
distribution, RSVP lists, event timelines, budgets, and other logistics. Ensure that all sponsored
events meet goals, objectives, and deadlines.
· Provide strategic planning and support for special events, namely the annual Gala, including
event production, table and ticket purchases, and other logistical help.
· Maintain a central calendar and Altru donor database, track pending requests, maintain donor
profiles and gift information in Altru, and monitor donor acknowledgement in credit lines.
· Essential administrative functions and other duties and events as assigned.
Requirements:
· Minimum five years’ experience fundraising for a major non-profit organization or comparable
career experience, preferably in arts and culture with an emphasis on corporate fundraising,
event planning and production, donor relations, and/or proposal development.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently under deadline and in a collaborative manner.
· Proficiency in Microsoft, Adobe, and Google suites. Graphic design skills a plus.
· Experience utilizing fundraising software and online databases.
· Must be able to represent the museum in a skilled manner at meetings and tours with funders
and colleagues.
· Knowledge of Southern California fundraising landscape preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree (or substantial coursework) in art history, art education, studio art, or closely
related field preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: sit
for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down
stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and
below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and
the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate a
computer and other office equipment is required. Heavy usage of computers and phones required.
Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000
