Nashormeh Lindo Re-elected Chair; Jaime Galli Named New Vice Chair of California Arts Council

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Arts Council re-elected Nashormeh Lindo and newly elected Jaime Galli to serve as Chair and Vice Chair of the Council, respectively, at a public meeting on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Oceanside.

An Oakland-based artist and educator, Lindo was appointed to the California Arts Council by Governor Jerry Brown in September of 2014. Lindo has held the position of Chair since her election on January 25, 2018. She served previously as Vice Chair of the Council from April 22, 2016 to January 24, 2018. Her current term expires January 1, 2021.

Galli, appointed to the Council by Governor Brown in October 2014, is a Senior Consultant with Sia Partners and currently engaged with the brand marketing team at Instagram. Her current term expires January 1, 2022.

The positions are in effect as of January 1.

About Nashormeh Lindo

Nashormeh N.R. Lindo is an artist, arts educator, consultant, and curator. Her work as a renowned photographer, printmaker, and painter has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. As an artist, Lindo’s recent work explores the way one medium informs another, utilizing her photographs for surface design on textiles. As an educator, Lindo teaches art classes to children in Oakland and is a former adjunct instructor of African American Art History at City College of San Francisco. She currently serves as an independent museum consultant for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Oakland Museum of California, lecturing and writing on the impact of African-American history and heritage to visual culture, as well as its music and literary counterparts. She has previously held the title of Manager of Educational Programs for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at New York Public Library and Coordinator of Community Services at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and is a trustee emeritus of the Brandywine Offset Institute. A native of Philadelphia, Lindo received her M.S. in museum education from the Bank Street College of Education, and her B.A. in Art from Pennsylvania State University. She lives and works in the Bay Area with her husband, actor Delroy Lindo, and their son, Damiri.

About Jaime Galli

Jaime Galli is a Senior Consultant with Sia Partners and currently engaged with the Brand Marketing team at Instagram. Previously, she was a Senior Strategist at Imprint Projects, leading digital strategy for clients like Google, Levi’s Made and Crafted, and Dolby. She’s worked as a freelance Marketing and Communications Consultant focused on the arts, culture, leisure, and entertainment sector. Her clients include Fuseproject, Adidas, San Francisco International Film Festival, SF Sketchfest – The San Francisco Comedy Festival, and more. Additionally, she works as an Instructor at the Academy of Art University, teaching Social Media Strategy. Galli was the former Digital Marketing Manager at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and previously the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager for SFFILM. She has worked in marketing and fundraising for multiple organizations, both in California and Oregon, including Eugene Opera, The Oregon Bach Festival, The Santa Barbara Choral Society, University of Oregon, and San Francisco State School of Music and Dance. She has presented on email marketing best practices, social media strategy, and creative branding, written about leadership and management in arts organizations, and has written and edited courses in social media strategy, content creations, analytics, and management.
