Council meeting: April 18 in MercedThe California Arts Council will meet on Wednesday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center. CA Poet Laureate Dana Gioia honored with 2018 Poets' PrizeCalifornia Poet Laureate Dana Gioia's work "99 Poems: New & Selected" has been chosen as the winner of this year's Poets' Prize. Administered by Lake Forest College, the $3,000 prize is awarded each year to the best book of verse by an American author published in the prior year. Gioia will be recognized at a celebratory event and reception on May 18 in New York. Read more about Gioia's achievement here.
Arts and Accessibility program now openThe National Arts and Disability Center Arts and Accessibility grants program, administered by the California Arts Council, is now open for applications. Grants for artists are intended to support the advancement of their creative work and careers. Arts organizations may also request support for the hiring or involvement of artists with disabilities in arts events, and/or to increase the attendance and enhance the experience for audiences with disabilities.
