Council meeting: April 18 in Merced

The California Arts Council will meet on Wednesday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center. The public is invited to attend and to address the Council during the public comment period. A detailed meeting agenda is available here.

CA Poet Laureate Dana Gioia honored with 2018 Poets' Prize

California Poet Laureate Dana Gioia's work "99 Poems: New & Selected" has been chosen as the winner of this year's Poets' Prize. Administered by Lake Forest College, the $3,000 prize is awarded each year to the best book of verse by an American author published in the prior year. Gioia will be recognized at a celebratory event and reception on May 18 in New York. Read more about Gioia's achievement here. 

Arts and Accessibility program now open

The National Arts and Disability Center Arts and Accessibility grants program, administered by the California Arts Council, is now open for applications. Grants for artists are intended to support the advancement of their creative work and careers. Arts organizations may also request support for the hiring or involvement of artists with disabilities in arts events, and/or to increase the attendance and enhance the experience for audiences with disabilities. Applications may be submitted through December 2018; funding is contingent on the availability of funds. Visit our Arts and Accessibility program page to learn more.
