Blue Star Museums free to active-duty military this summer

More than 100 California museums will offer free admission to active-military duty and their families this summer, beginning this Memorial Day and running through Labor Day. Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America. Poet Laureate Dana Gioia featured guest on Memorial Day

On May 29, San Francisco will play host to the largest Memorial Day commemoration on the West Coast. California Poet Laureate Dana Gioia will be among the speakers during the formal ceremony at the National Cemetery, marking the occasion with a recitation of his work "Finding a Box of Family Letters," in which he contemplates a photograph of his father in uniform.   MORE >>
