Marvin Hamlisch, award-winning composer and musician famous for his movie and theater scores, has died. Hamlisch's role as an "Arts Driver" in the California Arts Council's "Create a State" campaign to raise $40 million through sales of California Arts License Plates was just revealed at the sold-out Pasadena Pops concert in late July.

Her principal duties include legislative liaison, state policy compliance, special initiatives, and management of the agency's Tax Checkoff efforts. California Indian Basket Exhibit Travels to Pleasanton

The exciting and unique exhibit, American Masterpieces: Artistic Legacy of California Indian Basketry, is on the move again. A portion of the original exhibit is soon to be shown at Museum on Main in Pleasanton. Mark your calendars for the Sept. 11 - Oct. 14 dates. An exhibit catalog comes out in November. Lots more.

If every california taxpayer gave $1, there would be $15 million for the arts.
