AXIS Dance Company to be Featured on Television's "So You Think You Can Dance"

Watch TV on Thursday, even if you usually don't! 

Oakland-based AXIS Dance Company, a current grantee of the California Arts Council, will be featured on the hit dance series So You Think You Can Dance on Thursday, June 30 at 8/7c on FOX.

National Heritage and Jazz Master Fellowships Announced

San Jose Taiko artistic directors Roy and PJ Hirabayashi, and Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro, a Los Angeles Pandeiro player and percussionist, are among this year's National Heritage Fellowship recipients. Charlie Haden, a bassist, composer and educator from Agoura Hills, received one of the NEA's five Jazz Master Fellowships.

California High School Students Compete for National Music Theater Awards

Students from New York and Minneapolis may have taken top honors at the National High School Music Theater Awards this week -- known as "The Jimmy" -- but California was overwhelmingly represented, with 10 of the 50 students in the competition hailing from the Golden State
