SUMMARY:IIG Workshop #2: Decentering Whiteness in Education
DESCRIPTION:About Workshop 2\nTo what extent can we disrupt how white aesthetics and formalism are introduced in academia as the basis for learning? We will contrast how Eurocentrism is introduced to people of colors’ bodies versus how decentering whiteness holds power for discovery and new approaches to learning. \n\n\nAbout the workshop series\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: Registration for all three workshops is currently at capacity. We encourage you to check back periodically should a cancellation(s) happen and a spot(s) open up – and to sign up for our ArtBeat e-newsletter to be alerted as soon as archived videos and workbook content become available on our website! \nRegistration is now open for our free online public workshops intended to advance racial equity within the state’s arts and cultural field. The three-part series was co-created through a partnership with the Bay Area’s PUSH Dance Company and Dancing Around Race\, as part of a pilot project supported by the Government Alliance on Race & Equity’s Innovation and Implementation Fund. \nThemes explored will be relevant to arts organizations\, artists\, nonprofits\, and government agencies interested in advancing racial equity practices in their institutions. \nEach workshop features standalone curriculum; registrants may attend as many as they see fit to the relevance and goals of their work. To allow for a level of interaction and depth for all participants each workshop is limited to 100 participants. Please register today to hold your place; there will be a waitlist and we will be in touch to confirm your spot in the workshop. \nWorkshops will include closed captioning and live ASL and Spanish interpretation. Archived video recordings of each workshop will be published to this page within 72 hours following each webinar.

SUMMARY:IIG Workshop #3: Economics of Race: Intention\, Impact\, and Consequences
DESCRIPTION:About Workshop 3\nCan we create an economy of abundance through cultural practice? Participants will examine and discuss policies / practices that create space for collective abundance\, in contrast with scenarios that perpetuate a false sense of scarcity. We will review the differences between intention\, impact\, and the consequences of such decisions. \n\n\nAbout the workshop series\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: Registration for all three workshops is currently at capacity. SUMMARY:AO: Individual Artists Fellowship – Region IV Applications Due
DESCRIPTION:Background & Purpose\nThe California Arts Council’s policies and practices prioritize racial equity and have a broad geographic reach into communities of all sizes and needs\, and this includes providing critical services to artists and to the community at large. The CAC is committed to funding opportunities that support all of California’s creative ecosystem. Offering fellowship support to artists responds to the CAC’s Strategic Framework by directly supporting individuals who embody aesthetics\, a key value of the CAC\, recognizing all art forms and artistic traditions that enable full and meaningful creative expression. \nThrough a network of regionally based Administering Organizations (AOs)\, the Individual Artists Fellowship (IAF) program will continue to recognize\, uplift\, and celebrate the excellence of California artists practicing any art form. In doing so\, the CAC will showcase the centrality of artists’ leadership in guiding the evolution of our traditional and contemporary cultures. \nExcellence\, for purposes of this grant\, is defined as an artist’s \n\nUnique artistic vision\nOngoing commitment to creative practice\nEngagement with and impact on the larger cultural ecosystem This program will support artists at key moments in their careers\, elevating their capacity for continued contribution to the field and our state. Fellowship grants support individual artistic practice through unrestricted funding. This program is intended to support a broad spectrum of artists working in all disciplines\, from diverse geographies and communities of all sizes across the state of California.\n\nView the Administering Organization – Individual Artists Fellowship program page for more information\, including the grant guidelines and resources.
