Art and Ecology Residency

Description

Applications Now Open: The Verdancy Project’s 2025 Artist Residency Season

We’re excited to announce that applications are open for The Verdancy Project’s 2025 residency season! We offer two distinct residency opportunities:

Ponder Residency (1 week): A short, reflective retreat with no expectations of productivity—no project or production requirements. Artists are free to focus on rest, exploration, or creative play.

Land Art Residency (3 months): A new opportunity for artists interested in creating land-based work using natural materials sourced from the environment. This residency encourages experimentation and deep connection to place.
For 2025, we’re offering a variety of scholarships, including one specifically for parent artists.

Our residency program is designed for creatives working in visual art, dance, theater, music, media, literary, and interdisciplinary arts who share a profound connection to nature, ecology, or science. We seek artists who go beyond simply “being inspired by nature” and are deeply invested in environmental stewardship and the natural sciences.

Ideal applicants are self-sufficient, motivated, and comfortable in a rural, outdoor setting. If you’re not a fan of bugs, dirt, sap, or critters, this might not be the residency for you! While we provide comfortable accommodations, it’s very much an elevated camping (glamping) experience.
