Executive Director, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts

The MCCLA Board of Directors is excited to announce the search for an Executive Director (ED). The ED will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for MCCLAs’ staff, programs, program expansion, and execution of its mission.

The ideal candidate should be able to lead, organize and motivate a small, and energetic team to focus on promoting arts programing and engagement for our community, and be an artistic and educational resource for community-based Mission District organizations seeking to include Latino arts and culture in their activities.
This candidate will also have experience in non-profit management, knowledge of public arts policies, programs and governmental and philanthropic resources, ability to for MCCLA’s mission and implementation of software tools.
The candidate must have in substantial experience in operational budgeting, budget planning and implementation.
Who We Are
MCCLA is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit for charitable purposes, to promote, preserve and develop the Latino cultural arts that reflect the living tradition and experiences of Chicano, Mexican, Central and South American, and Caribbean people.

MCCLA is one of four city-owned community-based cultural center facilities operated by nonprofit arts organizations that provide accessible arts opportunities for all San Franciscans. MCCLA has been funded through the SF Arts Commission since 1977 through an annual grant. Consequently, MCCLA is both a tenant and a grantee of the City of San Francisco, as MCCLA enters into both a lease and a grant agreement with the City every year

The MCCLA has devoted 44 years to preserving, promoting, and displaying the Latino arts and culture through community service and programing. MCCLA offers an array of culturally relevant experiences including dance, music, art classes, youth programing, gallery exhibits, and a legendary screen-printing facility, Mission Grafica. As the largest community center in San Francisco devoted to the arts MCCLA continues to serve a diverse demographic.

MCCLA has an annual operating budget of approximately $1-2M and a team of 10-15 employees plus contractors and vendors.

Salary Range
$80,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience.
