The Festival of Arts – we bring art to life! As a local non-profit leader, we support the growth and development of the arts in Laguna Beach and produce two world-renowned events: The Festival of Arts Fine Art Show and the Pageant of the Masters. Under the supervision of the wardrobe director, this position provides assistance in the construction of all costuming in the wardrobe department for the Pageant of the Masters.

Dates: This is a seasonal, full-time, non-exempt position. The position starts in January 13th and ends July 8th.

Hours: Mon – Fri. Daytime, some Thursday evening rehearsals, occasional evenings and/or Sat or Sun.

Reports to: Wardrobe Director

Pay Rate: $24 per hour

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

· Assemble costumes by sewing pieces together. Responsible for draping, patterning, and cutting of costumes.

· Conducts fittings for volunteer performers.

· Constructs costumes and makes alterations as needed.

· Maintains a clean, organized and safe work place.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Strong sewing skills. Experience with alterations and knowledge of garment construction required.

· Must be able to use an industrial sewing machine and be able to use patterns to cut out garments.

· Must be able to drape knit garments, have knowledge of different fabrics and materials.

· Attention to detail.

· Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and strong collaborative and communication skills.

· Ability to work with multiple and competing production deadlines.

· Experience in a theatrical environment preferred but no required.

· Must be able to walk up and down stairs and meet the other physical demands of the job including standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting/moving objects up to 20 lbs. Color vision is required in order to correctly determine the color needed.

·Must be 18 years or older.
