Development & Annual Fund Coordinator

Description

The Development & Annual Fund Coordinator is a central role in our high-performing and vibrant Advancement Team. As the heart of development operations, this position will collaborate on and participate in a range of fundraising activities. Core job duties include ensuring prompt, accurate and inspiring donor stewardship, preserving the accuracy and integrity of the department’s database, and special event support. 

In addition to the above supporting roles, this position will continue to grow the annual fund program, including strategy and execution for targeted direct mail appeals (renewals, upgrades, and acquisition 1-2 times annually), email appeals, online giving, stewardship and targeted strategies for increased giving, based on industry best practices.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Development & Annual Fund Coordinator reports to the Director of Advancement

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Development Coordination

  • Provide administrative support across the department to support the fundraising goals of the organization. Maintain the shared calendars, donor tracking, and organizational systems of the Advancement Team
  • Coordinate and execute the gift stewardship process, working with the fundraising team to ensure that gifts are acknowledged with speed, accuracy,  and inspiration 
  • Oversee the Salesforce platform, ensure the accuracy of donor records, and best practices to track and report results. Train and guide 826 Valencia staff  to use this tool. Maintain the Salesforce User Guide
  • Coordinate the in-kind donation process, and assist the staff in onboarding and training related to the in-kind tracking system
  • Coordinate execution and logistics of special events including the annual Bookeaters’ Bash event as well as administration/logistics for other (smaller) development and cultivation events

Annual Fund Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for best practice annual-fund donor acquisition, renewal/upgrades, and stewardship
  • Collaborate with members of the Advancement Team and Design Team to conceptualize, design, and write Annual Fund campaign and materials 
  • Coordinate the execution of Annual Fund, including direct mail, email and social media appeals, monthly donors and online giving strategies, and ongoing cultivation and stewardship. Implementation of Annual Fund communications plan and timing, in collaboration with communications staff
  • Track and report on results of appeals and special campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed; exceptional attention to detail and comfort working with spreadsheets and large batches of data required
  • Build donor relationships with designated segments of annual and monthly donors, providing needed cultivation, stewardship and opportunities to make more substantial gifts over time

Other Responsibilities

  • Join the Advancement Team in promoting a culture of philanthropy organization-wide 
  • Attend staff meetings, participate in internal committees on diversity, equity and inclusion, the annual 826 National conference, anti-racism trainings, other professional development workshops, and performance appraisal systems
  • Collaborate with and support the Executive Director  and Director of Individual Philanthropy, as needed
  • Represent 826 Valencia at community fairs, special events, and partner venues, as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience 
  • At least two years of experience in nonprofit fundraising work (annual campaign fundraising preferred)
  • Experience with donor management software (Salesforce preferred) 
  • Able to complete a background check and tuberculosis screening

OTHER DETAILS
This non-exempt role is full-time (40 hours per week) with a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday (e.g., 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and some evenings and weekends as required. This role is based at the Tenderloin Center, 180 Golden Gate Ave., San Francisco. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this role is currently remote from a home location with high-speed Internet access, but will return to the office when we reopen our centers.  Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area, where they are expected to work in an open-office environment with substantial ambient noise and overheard conversations

  • $50,000 to $55,000 Annual Salary, with $1,000 per year language premium for employees who meet the criteria
