Monterey Scottish Games and Celtic FestivalEthnic

The Monterey Scottish Games and Celtic Festival features athletic events pertinent to Highland Games such as caber tossing, throwing a weight for distance and height, and a sheaf toss. Competitions take place for Highland dancing, bagpipe bands, individual pipers and drummers, and drum majors. Many clans are represented, and Scottish and Irish bands perform along with dancers and harpists. There are sheepdog herding and historical re-enactment groups giving demonstrations of a bygone life. Children may compete in mini-games and a craft booth entices them to create items from Celtic culture.

Food vendors sell a variety of traditional foods such as meat pies, bangers, and fish and chips. Many other vendors sell clothing, foods, books and items related to the Celtic world.

Tickets may be purchased in advance online or at the gate.
