Drama Teaching Artist

Want to join a team of teaching artists and build life-changing skills with children? Apply to become a Drama Teaching Artist with Arts Alive! Applicants local to the South Bay are a plus! This position is part-time during the school year.

Searching for committed artists who are interested in working in an artistic environment with at least two of following skills:

  • Strong interest in educating students under age 12 in performing arts and music
  • Have skills or certification in theater, costume management, sound production or stage management

About the Organization:

Kings and Clowns, Inc. 501(c)3 DBA Arts Alive provides fundamental arts education and performance opportunities for young people in music, dance, and the performing arts. The volunteer Board of Directors and administration ensures that each child has access to quality arts education through in-school and after-school programs throughout Los Angeles County. This program is funded by Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

Position Description

The drama teacher will be versed in classroom teaching of creative drama skills, able to teach and engage students of different levels in applying multiple teaching method, multitasking, prepared to continually learn their craft, value frequent communication with parents outside classes and go the extra mile to make students the best they can be. Classes will culminate in performances.

Hours: Independent contractor will be scheduled for up to six hours for classes between 2:30pm and 5:30pm Monday through Friday (will vary). Base rate for entry-level teaching artist is $36.
