Getty MUI Internship: Public Arts Administration Assistant
Social and Public Art Resource

Venice, CA

Full-time position for 10-weeks during Summer 2017

Stipend: $5,000.00 

The Public Arts Administration Assistant position will offer the candidate valuable insight on how a community-based public art organization, like SPARC, works to produce, preserve and present public art works and community-based public art programming. The position will focus on administrative needs such as marketing, development, and public relations. Focus projects include but not limited to supporting 2017-18 exhibitions, panel discussions, and workshops in our summer Duron Art Gallery programming, administrative support for SPARC's Mural Rescue Program and funding related research.  The Assistant will work in the SPARC administration offices, report to the Office Manager, and will work closely with the Executive Director and key SPARC staff in weekly staff/intern meetings. A personal workspace, mac computer and email address will be assigned to the Assistant.



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel
  • Knowledge of operating standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of Adobe programs (Photoshop, InDesign) preferred
  • Interest in the arts and social justice
  • Multicultural Awareness/Sensitivity
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and strong problem-solving skills
