Social/Digital Media Coordinator
California Musical Theatre

Sacramento, CA

We are seeking a bright, skilled and energetic individual with a wide-ranging and up-to-the-minute knowledge of social media and a proven track record of utilizing social and digital platforms to enhance an organization’s brand and increase sales.  This individual must have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and a great work ethic.  She/he should be passionate, collaborative, motivated, reliable, highly organized and detail-oriented; a self-starter who can plan ahead, multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate is an avid media consumer with a keen interest in the effect of digital technology on media consumption, and a team player with at least one or two years of professional work experience in the social/digital space, a strong penchant for analytics and numbers, the ability to conceive and implement creative and successful promotional partnerships, and experience with creative social and digital innovation and data-driven planning and strategy.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in advertising, marketing or relevant field
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant professional experience in social media and digital advertising
  • Experience with most widely-used social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube
  • Ability to stay on top of developing channels, trends, platforms and products
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of search, display, video, mobile, ad-serving platforms, SEO, keyword research and Google analytics
  • Comfort with the use of digital strategies, technologies, channels and tactics
  • Ability to distill data into meaningful reports, insights and areas of opportunity
  • Proactive personality with the ability to simultaneously and efficiently manage multiple projects
  • Detail-oriented, a quick learner with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work, with flexibility and receptiveness to changing priorities
  • Ability to accept constructive and valid input and implement necessary changes
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, external colleagues such as promotional partners and vendors, and general public, both in person and through social media
  • Ability to effectively work independently
  • Photo shooting and editing capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as necessary
  • Valid driver license and fully insured vehicle

Preferred Skills

  • Passion for theater and the arts
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Video shooting and editing capabilities
  • Familiarity with email marketing service providers
  • Familiarity with project management software
  • Familiarity with WordPress website platform


Social Media

  • Coordinate all social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube
  • Evaluate viability of currently unused or underutilized platforms and tools (blogs, podcasts, digital newsletters, direct dialog channels)
  • Implement additional relevant social media platforms as appropriate
  • Create and implement effective strategies for growing number of platform participants and increasing active engagement
  • Develop innovative, creative, relevant and interesting content across all platforms
  •  Proactively schedule posts and other activity for all platforms, tracking with master digital calendar
  • Facilitate online conversations with patrons, actively engaging followers in real-time dialog when necessary to address complaints/inquiries and convert them to advocates
  • Actively engage with social media platforms of key demographic groups
  • Analyze competitive activity in marketplace

Digital Media

  • Assist with coordination of external digital agency in creation of smart, integrated, targeted and measurable media campaigns
  • Assist in monitoring agency activities, including coordination of Google Grants search advertising
  • Analyze campaign response data to ensure campaigns are continuously optimized and running efficiently, recommending adjustments to tactics and media mix as necessary
  • As necessary, evaluate and assist in coordination of campaigns with media partners and other digital opportunities outside of digital agency scope of work
  • Evaluate new and innovative online media opportunities on an ongoing basis
  • Coordinate trafficking process for digital assets
  • Coordinate email communications platform, including creation of eblast messaging and maintenance of database
  • Analyze competitive activity in marketplace


  • Distribute promotional materials to businesses and at events
  •  Supervise promotional events as necessary
