The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is currently seeking a:
Archives Assistant (Part-Time)
Founded in 1919, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's mission is to perform, present, and promote music in its varied forms at the highest level of excellence to a diverse and large audience, both at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is dedicated to continuing its pre-eminent status in the music world of the 21st century.
The Archives Assistant serves as a support person to the Digital Archives Manager and the Director of the Archives and Hollywood Bowl Museum and assists with all aspects of reference, arrangement and description and preservation of materials in all formats.
Provide reference assistance to LA Philharmonic staff and external researchers
Create catalog entries for archival holdings
Generate indexes and finding aids for archival collections
Scan photographs, correspondence and other materials requested by internal and external uses
Assist with general upkeep of collections
Other departmental duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in music, arts or history
Minimum 2-3 years experience in arts or cultural organizations, preferably in archives, libraries, and collections management; knowledge of archival practices and procedures highly desirable
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Refined analytical and research skills
Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, experience with databases)
Demonstrate ability to represent the Association in a professional manner both on the phone and in person.
