Marketing & Communications Intern

frameline’s mission is to change the world through the power of queer film. As a media arts non-profit, frameline’s programs connect filmmakers and audiences in San Francisco and around the globe. frameline’s integrated programs provide critical funding for emerging LGBTQ filmmakers, reach hundreds of thousands with a collection of more than 250 films distributed nationally, and create an international stage for the world’s best queer media through the San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival and additional screenings and events.


frameline seeks an enthusiastic intern to support our outreach and marketing efforts leading up to and during frameline42: The San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival, June 14- 24, 2018. Responsibilities may include graphic design, copy writing, and content creation for frameline’s digital communications channels such as social media and website updates. Additional responsibilities may be added based on time, organizational needs, and the intern’s unique skills and interests.

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships, Communications Manager

Commitment: Three-month minimum commitment (late March/early April through the Festival in June), preferably two days per week, minimum 10 hours per week.


Unpaid internship
Travel reimbursement available.
Students can arrange to receive academic credit for their internship and should see their advisors or department chairs for procedures and requirements.

  • Academic study in marketing, advertising with focus in social media and/or content marketing (preferred but not required)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Effective communication and organizational skills

  • Experience with social media platforms, email marketing

  • Knowledge of emerging social media platforms

  • Knowledge of or interest in LGBTQ Film/Cinema

  • Experience with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Capacity for detail oriented work

  • Flexible, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of humor


  • Conducting research to support marketing and outreach efforts
  • Assisting with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. to promote frameline programs • Graphic design for Festival marketing efforts for print or digital
  • Assisting in content creation for frameline’s website
  • Aiding in administrative duties
  • Other tasks as assigned
