Marketing & Press Manager
New Conservatory Theatre Center

San Francisco, CA

The Marketing & Press Manager is responsible for social media, community outreach, press, media and public relations for NCTC, as well as assisting with all marketing initiatives. This position implements print and electronic collateral, audience development initiatives, cross-promotions, administrative and special event support, content creation for the NCTC website, and communication with the press. Weekend and evening availability required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Planning
    1. Create and implement audience development strategy and initiatives
    2. Plan and manage annual Press and publications calendars
    3. Plan and create lobby displays and events
    4. Create and implement social media strategy and calendar
  2. Press and PR
    1. Implement all media relations including strategy/pitching, press releases, follow-up and cultivation for youth and adult programs. (Print, PSA’s, and Online)
    2. Maintain media data base, RSVP tracking, press packets, and coverage reporting
    3. Build and foster media relationships
    4. Create and implement Press and production photo shoots: work with photographer to select final prints
    5. Refresh and Maintain photos and press releases on NCTC web page
    6. Provide content and maintain lobby screens, marquees, and poster placements.
    7. Support  Opening night, Pride Party, and Season Announcement parties in association with the Marketing Director
  3. Marketing and Social Media
    1. Support strategies for growing the single ticket, subscription and student enrollment base
    2. Assist in writing promotional copy for mainstage productions
    3. Website updates as assigned
    4. Manage all NCTC social media
  4. Community Engagement and  Stewardship
    1. Manage Perks card partnerships and promotion
    2. Develop and cultivate relationships and sales opportunities with outside stakeholders at local businesses, hotels, and corporations
    3. Assist in individual show outreach with local communities and organizations
    4. Build and maintain targeted group lists
    5. Manage special engagement events at NCTC
  5. Supporting the Activities of the Department
    1. Support Marketing planning and initiatives  
    2. Playbill editing
    3. Attend first production meeting and cast table read as assigned
    4. Attend art events, community gatherings as needed

 Marketing & Press Manager is required to:

  • Be enthusiastic for developing, achieving and then exceeding goals
  • Have the capacity to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment that requires responsiveness and attention to detail
  • Possess maturity, drive, and professionalism.
  • Fully support the mission of NCTC
  • Have experience with MS Word, Excel, Mac/PC, Filemaker, Photoshop, Facebook, and Outlook.  Patron Manager experience a plus
