For Northern CA artists
2017 Emerging Artists of Northern California Exhibition
JUROR: Chandra Cerrito Contemporary Gallery
Deadline: June 30, 2017
Open to all northern California resident artists 18 years and over. You are invited to submit 10 digital images of original works completed in the past three years, not previously shown in a MarinMOCA Juried Exhibition. The goal of this competition is to choose five“emerging artists ” who will be given an opportunity to exhibit either a body of work or a site-specific installation within a portion of the Museum gallery. The juror will select three installation artists, one 2D artist and one 3D artist.
For the purposes of this exhibition the definition of emerging artist is:an artist who is the principal creator of new work, who shows significant potential yet is under -recognized, and who has some evidence of professional achievement but not a substantial record of accomplishments. Artist’s age is not a consideration. We welcome the opportunity to support works that embody diverse cultural perspectives.
A “northern California artist” is defined as an artist working and living in the following area: From the San Jose area north to the California border and east to the California border. We ask that you provide a statement about your general philosophy on art. In addition, for site specific installations, please include a brief description of your concept for that entry. For artists who are accepted, a visit to the gallery and a meeting with the show producers prior to installation is advisable. You will be contacted by one of the producers to determine a date and time and at this meeting they will discuss with you how to prepare for the exhibition
Only online entries with digitally uploaded images will be accepted. Entries must be RECEIVED via online application on or before midnight PDT FRIDAY, June 30, 2017.
