Shoot Some Public Art...with a Camera
California Arts Council promotes photography contest through viewbug.com
The California Arts Council and ViewBug.com are raising awareness and appreciation of California's abundant public art...and bringing out shutterbugs in communities throughout the state. ViewBug hosts vetted photography competitions, for amateurs and pros alike.
When the California Arts Council (CAC) was created in 1975, one of the responsibilities outlined for the agency was: "Provide for the exhibition of art works in public buildings throughout California." In recent years, budget constraints have kept the CAC from fulfilling this original directive, but the agency feels very strongly about showcasing California's brilliant legacy of public art.
For our photo contest, photographers must capture art (murals, mosaic, sculptures, paintings, etc.) created specifically for public settings such as parks, plazas, buildings and community-gathering spots. The winner of the photo contest will receive some great donated prizes!
