Building San Jose's "Platform" for Creative Placemaking
Director Craig Watson to speak at Sept. 14 event
With the theme, Platform: Building Networks to Catalyze Creative Urban Culture, the City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs and the California Arts Council hope to lead a lively discussion on the topic of Creative Placemaking. The September 14 event at San Jose City Hall has two goals:
- to build support for creative entrepreneurs and arts-rooted businesses by providing opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange, and
- to provide a forum for participants to learn about and discuss creative placemaking. There is no fee to attend, but advance registration is required due to limited space.
Among a day filled with sessions and exhibits, California Arts Council Director Craig Watson will lead a conversation with local arts and economic development leaders around innovative examples of creative placemaking. Robert Lynch of Americans for the Arts will offer the closing remarks.
More on the day's schedule.
Attendees may cap off the evening by attending the 2012 ZERO1 Biennial, Seeking Silicon Valley. Three significant new projects that are focused on creative placemaking in San Jose will launch with the beginning of the ZERO1 Biennial.
