The Arts, Creativity, And Innovation in the 21st Century Classroom: How to Paint a Canvas for Success is the topic for a hearing convened by Senator Curren Price, chairman of the Joint Committee on the Arts. Expert representatives are expected to present information on the value of arts education. The hearing is confirmed for Wednesday, April 18, at 1:30pm in Room 3191 of the State Capitol in Sacramento.
The hearing will be live webcast streamed on the 18th from 1:30-3:30pm PST on the web and archived after the event.

Senator Curren Price was responsible for authoring SB 1076 that include the "Arts Council Fund" as a "Voluntary Contribution" option for state tax filers. The FTB's 2011 tax return forms allows California taxpayers to contribute part of their personal income tax refund to the California Arts Council and its arts programs for children and communities. Individuals may make tax-deductible contributions in amounts of $1 or more. Funds will be used to advance the arts and arts education, with no funding going to administrative expenses.
