Arts Fund Donations Steadily Climb
Total stands at $142,702
The Franchise Tax Board (FTB) has released figures for Voluntary Contributions for May. Statistics show that contributions to the "Arts Council Fund" now stand at $142,702 with 14,401 donations by state tax filers. This is the first year for the California Arts Council to participate. The agency continues to promote this new source of funding.
Background: The Arts Council was included on the 2010 "Voluntary Contribution" portion of the FTB tax return after the passage in 2010 of SB 1076 by Senator Curren Price. The 2010 tax return form from the FTB allows California taxpayers to contribute part of their personal income tax refund to the California Arts Council and its arts programs for children and communities. Individuals may make tax-deductible contributions in amounts of $1 or more. Funds will be used to advance the arts and arts education, with no funding going to administrative expenses.
