California Poetry Out Loud has new program leads

The Arts Council's newest staffers, Jason Jong and Shelly Gilbride, will team up to lead the California Poetry Out Loud program for 2014-15. Kristin Margolis had been the lead and was known as "the Poetry Lady" in the Capitol because of generous Cal Channel broadcasting. The move allows Kristin to focus on her duties as legislative liaison, and highlight a new "Poetry Lady" and "Poetry Gentleman" at the agency. SEE POL PAGE

Nat'l Guild on Community Arts Ed conference in LA Nov 19-22

Over 500 arts leaders and arts education experts are expected at the annual conference of the National Guild for Community Arts Education this fall in Los Angeles. "The focus of this year's conference-catalyzing positive change through arts education-has profound implications for all involved," notes the website.
