The California Poetry Out Loud Students, Their Poems, and the Judging

This year marks the third time the California Arts Council has produced the Poetry Out Loud competition, a contest that encourages high school students to learn about poetry through memorization, performance, and competition of classical poetry. California Story Slam Expands to High Schools in 22 Counties

High school juniors from 22 select counties around the state are invited to participate in the "My California Story Slam," a pilot-project writing competition that encourages students to use the knowledge of their lives and emotional journeys to create literature.
