Contest Information

Eligibility
California 4th and 5th grade student are eligible to participate in the Conservation & Creativity Poster Contest. The Poster Contest may be administered by classroom teachers, parents, guardians, community groups, and any other individual or organization engaged with 4th and 5th grade students.

Deadline
All entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Winner Notification
Results will be posted in May 2015 on www.arts.ca.gov

Prizes
Three winners will be selected from each grade level. Winners will receive a certificate of recognition from the State of California, and a gift certificate. The winning artwork will be displayed in the State Capitol in Sacramento.

Materials
Students may use construction paper, plain bond paper, drawing paper or art board. Crayons, felt pens, colored chalks, paints, water colors and grease pencils may be used. Artwork is not limited to these materials—student creativity is encouraged! Posters must be two-dimensional in order to qualify.

Submission Requirements
The contest theme is “Creativity & Conservation.” Entries must be original and should depict creative ways in which Californians can conserve water during the drought. Messages and lettering should be large and bold enough to reproduce digitally.

The back of each entry must clearly list the student’s name, grade level, school name, teacher’s name / contact information. Omission of this information will disqualify an entry. Poster Labels may be downloaded and printed here. Designed for Avery Template 5163.

An Entry Form must accompany each set of entries. Please make sure all information requested on the form is accurate and legible. An incomplete or unsigned entry form will disqualify the set of entries. Entry forms may also be downloaded here.

Disclaimer
All entries become the exclusive property of the California Arts Council. The California Arts Council has the right to display or otherwise use the submissions for future reproduction. Poster entries cannot be returned. Suggestion: Take pictures of the artwork prior to submission.

Poster Size
Submissions must be no smaller than 8 1/2" x 11" and no larger than 16" x 20".
